What is the Dress Code for the Polo Bar?
A swanky new restaurant with a horse-themed name, the Polo Bar is a bi-level eatery that features an overpriced bar on the ground floor and a dining room decorated in saddle leather and equestrian art down below. It is one of the most difficult restaurants in town to get into, and even if you manage to secure a table, reservations are not available until at least a month out.

The Polo bar NYC is a smart-casual destination that pays homage to classic New York establishments and Ralph Lauren's illustrious polo credentials. The venue, a must visit for anyone in the Midtown Manhattan vicinity, serves seasonal American classics and personal favorites alike, from Pigs in a Blanket to shrimp cocktail and ice cream sundaes.

Considering the high-brow atmosphere, it is perhaps not surprising that this is one of the city's most expensive eateries. Dinner can run up to $100, and the wine list is a tad pricey, too.

Most of the food on the menu is a little too glitzy for your taste, but you can't deny that they do have a few surprisingly good dishes. The best are the shrimp cocktails, BLT salads and corned beef sandwiches. There is also a burger and a chocolate and peanut butter tart that are worth checking out.

The Polo Bar also has a luxurious private dining space. Designed by Michel Richard, the restaurant's design guru, it can seat up to 130 guests for dinner or 100 for cocktails and tastings.

It also has a very elegant dress code, and baseball caps are not permitted inside. A collared shirt, crisp polo, and a lush cashmere sweater are recommended.

While the Polo Bar may be a little hard to get into, it is a fun place to eat and it is a worthy successor to the 21 Club and Four Seasons Restaurant. The best way to see for yourself is to call or ask to be added to the waitlist.
