我们培养孩子各种生活技能
We train our children in various life skills.
我们费尽心机的教给孩子千百样，却唯独没有教给孩子最重要的——那就是对生命的感觉。
We try our best to teach our children thousands of things, except the most important thing - a sense of life.

什么是对生命的感觉？
What is the sense of life?
日月旋转，不及一个小男孩在谷仓哀悼一只麻雀的死亡来得动人。
It is when a little boy mourns the death of a sparrow in a barn becomes more touching to us rather than the rotation of sun and moon.
那是见到美丽的鲜花不忍去折的心，
It's the heart that can't bear to pluck when seeing beautiful flowers;

是见到小动物会想去爱护的心，
it is the heart that wants to care for when seeing little animals;
那是一颗柔软而敏感的心。
It is a soft and sensitive heart.

公园里，一位妈妈坐在长椅上，不远处是她的小孩在玩耍，那是一个漂亮的小女孩。
A mother was sitting on the bench in the park, and not far away, her child, a beautiful little girl, was playing.

妈妈喊她过来，小女孩欢快地跑去找妈妈，却突然停住了。
因为她和妈妈中间隔了一条小路，一条被花瓣铺满的小路。
The mother called her to come over, the little girl ran joyfully to her mother, but suddenly she stopped because there was a path between her and her mother, a path blanketed with petals
春天，花开了满树满园，路上落了厚厚的花瓣，像铺了地毯。
In spring, the flowers are in full blossom. The fallen blossoms carpeted the path.
小女孩停住了，不知该怎么过去。
The little girl stopped as she did not know how to pass over.
犹豫了片刻，跑到路的另一端没有花瓣的地方绕了过去。就是这样的心。
After a moment of hesitation, she went to the other side of the path without petals. This is THE heart.

花瓣在路上，你忍心去踩吗？
The petals are on the road, would you bear to step on them?
也许有些人根本从来没有深层次思考过“生命”这个概念，
Perhaps some people have never thought profoundly at all about the definition of "life",
有些人从小就没有接受过有关“生命”的启蒙，所以也不会教给孩子对生命的尊重，
and Some have never got enlightened on “life”since they were little, consequently they will not teach their children the respect for lives,
但其实这是非常重要的。
which is absolutely very important.
别以为懵懂的孩子什么都不懂。
Don't imagine that a little child knows nothing.
他们会说“乌龟的水脏了，他会很难受，我们赶紧给他换水吧”，
They would say, "The water for the turtle is dirty, he will be very uncomfortable. Let’s change water for him now."
他们会说“下雨了，雨打在小树的身上会疼吗？”
They would say, "It's raining, will the little trees feel painful when the rain drops on them?"
在他们眼里所有的东西都是有生命的，小树也像他们一样会觉得疼，
In their eyes, all things are sentient, so the little trees might feel painful like them;
小乌龟也会因为水脏而觉得不舒服，这是多么直接，多么动人的感受。
the little turtle might feel uncomfortable because the water is dirty. What a straightforward and touching feeling it is!

不要觉得孩子的话语幼稚就直接在耳边过滤掉，
Don't let a child's words slip from your ears just because you think they are childish.
这是多么美妙的声音。
How wonderful his words can be!

孩子终究是会长大的，但重要的是，我们要学着去保护这颗柔软的心。
A child will grow up eventually, but the point is that we should learn to protect his soft heart.
因为这样，就算他长大，就算他怎么变，他的心里总有一块纯净的地方，让他可以去爱，去体谅，去感动，可以去欣赏美。
Because of this, even if he grows up, no matter how he changes, there will always be a pure place in his heart where he can love, be compassionate, be touched and appreciate beauty.
所以我们千万不要拒绝孩子在每天的生活中问的问题，他们问的是“生命”，
Therefore, we must not reject the questions that children ask in their daily lives. The questions they ask are regarding "life."
当你认真地去思考、回答他们的每个问题时，当你小心翼翼的呵护这一份对生命的感觉时，你是在呵护他们最纯真的天性，呵护他们本有的良善。
When you thoughtfully consider and respond to each of their questions, when you carefully cultivate their feelings toward life, you are actually caring for their purest nature and natural goodness.
你所卫护的，是他们一生中最宝贵的东西，最值得珍重的东西。
What you are guarding is the most precious and cherished thing in their life.
不要扼杀孩子的良善与敏感，不要让孩子成长成一个对生命毫无感觉，麻木坚硬、自私冷漠的人，这才是最重要的，
Don't strangle the goodness and sensitivity of the children. Don't raise your children to be someone who has no feelings for life, who is numb and hard, who is selfish and indifferent. That’s what matters most.
不要只关心孩子大脑智商的开发，却忽略了他天性的培养。智慧不关于文字，不关于大脑思维。
Don’t concern merely with the development of your children's IQ, while ignoring the cultivation of his nature. Wisdom is not about words, not about brain thinking.

智慧不关于文字，不关于大脑思维。
Wisdom has nothing to do with neither words nor the mind.
其实一个人越接触自然，越靠近大地的人，他的品格越接近于道。
In fact, as a person gets closer to nature, closer to Mother Earth, his personality will be closer to the Tao.
生命和大脑是两个不一样的概念。
Life and brain are two different concepts.
大脑思维越强，不代表他生命越灿烂。
A stronger brain doesn’t mean a more brilliant life.
大脑是思维，是后天的造作，生命是天性，人要多开发天性的部分，那他的生命就会比较健康。
The brain is the source of thinking, which is acquired later. Life is innate nature, and if a person cultivates more of the innate nature parts, then his life will be healthier.
从小要给孩子培养一种仁爱天地万物的精神，让他能连接到大地，连接到万物，连接到生命。这个其实很关键。
In childhood, we should cultivate in him a spirit of loving-kindness for all things in the world, so that he can connect to Mother Earth, to all things, and to life. This is what counts.
