孔子曰：“才难，不其然乎？唐虞之际，于斯为盛。有妇人焉，九人而已。三分天下有其二，以服事殷。周之德，其可谓至德也已矣。”

Confucius said, “It is difficult to find talents, is it not so? During the Tang and Yu Dynasties, it was particularly true. During the reign of King Wu there was a woman among his ministers, so there were only nine men in his service. King Wen of Zhou had two-thirds of the Realm of Yin, yet he served the King Zhou of Yin. The virtue of King Wen of Zhou may be said to have reached the highest point indeed.”

“才难”就是人才太难得了。
“It is difficult to find talents”— so it is.
唐尧、虞舜之际，是人才最多的时候。
During the Tang and Yu Dynasties, talents were abundant than ever before.
舜有五臣而天下治。
Emperor Shun had five ministers and the empire was well-governed.
武王曰：“予有乱臣十人。”周武王说：“我有十个帮助我治理国家的贤臣，其中有一个是妇女”。
King Wu Zhou said: "I have ten good ministers who help me govern the country, and one of them is a woman."

周朝当时是一个大诸侯国，天下三分之二的诸侯国都拥护周朝，但周文王仍然侍奉商朝，向商纣王称臣，周朝之德可谓是最高的了。

King Wu said, “I have ten able ministers,”, among whom there was a woman. King Wen of Zhou had two-thirds of the Realm of Yin, yet he served the Yin Emperor. King Wen of Zhou, the then most powerful vassal state, had two-thirds of the Realm of Yin, yet he served the King Zhou of Yin. King Wen of Zhou may be said to attain the highest point of submission.

“周之德”这个“周”当然是指周文王了，

It is the virtue of King Wen of Zhou that had attained the highest point.
武王，包括周公和姜子牙等人，后来自然就取代商朝，统领天下。

King Wu of Zhou, aided by his minister Jiang Ziya and his younger brother Duke of Zhou, overthrew the Shang and assumed power.
文武并用，垂拱而天下治。
By the assistance of military and civil talents, a ruler can govern efficiently without exertion. He needs do nothing but gravely and reverently occupy his royal seat.

所以，治理天下也不是很难，您只要找到几个“德才兼备”的贤臣就可以了，注意，是“德才兼备”，而不是“才德兼备”，要把德放前面，德才兼备，那么天下大治矣。

Therefore, it is not difficult to govern by the assistance of able men of good character. What you should seek is able men of good character rather than able men without good character. Good character comes before ability. Able men of good character are a guarantee of a well-governed empire.

企业家、公司的董事长也是一样，只要找到几个德才兼备的人共事，您们的企业、事业不可能不成功。
The same is true for entrepreneurs and company presidents. As long as you work with able men with good character, business success is guaranteed.

或许您们会说：“到哪里去找这样的德才兼备之人呢？要找到这样的人太难了。”

Perhaps you may say: " Where to find such talents? It is too difficult to find them."

其实，人才难得是相对而言的，德才兼备之人每个时代都有，问题是您跟他们有没有善缘，并且您自己有没有德行感召他们。人才难得，难就难在这两个方面。

In fact, difficulty to find talents is relative. Every era boasts able men of good character. The point is whether you are charismatic enough and whether you could form good affinities with them. There lies the difficulty.

例如，刘备的麾下有关羽、张飞、诸葛亮、赵云、马超、黄忠等忠臣良将。

For example, Liu Bei gathered support from good advisors and brilliant generals such as Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhuge Liang, Zhao Yun, Ma Chao, Huang Zhong.

关羽、张飞、诸葛亮就不用介绍了，赵云能文能武，马超骁勇善战，黄忠也是老当益壮。
It is needless to say how outstanding Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Zhuge Liang are. Zhao Yun is good at both liberal arts and martial arts. Ma Chao is a great warrior. Huang Zhong is old but vigorous.

这么多人才为什么都能齐聚刘备麾下呢？首先，是刘备自己有德，又识得人才，会用人才的能力；

Why could Liu Bei win support from so many talents? First, Liu Bei is virtuous and able to select and make proper use of talents.

其次是跟他们有善缘。曹操也很爱才，也很想得到关羽，但是他没有这个福德和因缘。

Secondly, he forms good affinities with them. Cao Cao also cherish talents and wants to win Guan Yu over, but he doesn’t have the virtue and good karma to make it happen.
那么，福德和因缘从何而来呢？觉悟者说：“福德和因缘是前世和今生跟随觉悟者努力学习和实修而来的”
So, where do virtue and good karma come from? the Awakened One says: "The virtue and good karma come from the hard work and practice of the Awakened One in the past and current life."

普观天下能成就一番大事业的人，他们的成功还真不是靠这辈子的努力就能达成的。

For people who have made great accomplishments, their success is not attributed to their efforts in this life.
通过多生多世的学修，跟有德行的人广结善缘、广交朋友，这辈子就能跟有德行的人在一起共事，向他们学习，那么成功是自然的事。

With lives of study, practice and affinities to virtuous people, they finally have the chance to work with virtuous people and learn from them. It ensures their success.

所以，我们不要着急做事业，而是要先寻找德才兼备的善知识，向他们学习，努力修炼，好好地做人，提高自己的智慧和思想境界，广结善缘。
Therefore, there is no hurry to hook into a career. Instead, we should meet able men of good character and learn from them, practice hard, behave ourselves, develop our wisdom and noble ideas and form good affinities.

物以类聚，人以群分，慢慢地，您就会遇到有德行的人；
Birds of a feather flock together. Over time, you will meet virtuous people.

慢慢地，您的周围就会聚集越来越多有德有才的人。
Gradually, more and more virtuous and talented people will gather around you.

在这样的团队中，自然有您的用武之地，实现您的人生价值。
In such a team, certainly, you will come to realize the value of your life.
