Excerpt from Record of Illustrious deeds of masters 08
One who is more a talker than a doer is unpopular because he pays just lip service while demanding too much of others.
On the contrary, if you put doing ahead of speaking, speaking a few words only when the time comes, and focusing on doing, then you will be welcome wherever you go.
We are to be practical people who do not observe the faults of others but rather cultivate our own natures of mind and influence others with virtue. It is applicable everywhere.
How can you be unpopular if you are virtuous, forgiving, good-tempered, uncritical, and do a lot of work quietly without complaining?
A doer, who is well-liked everywhere. He has been blessed with a great deal of good fortune.
Therefore, we must strive to be people who "walk the talk." What matters is what you do.
